As international communication and social need demand, the abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translating have become the goal that foreign language teaching endeavors to achieve. Translation (written translation and oral interpretation) has also been an essential branch of learning already. More and more graduate and undergraduate students, even high school students, who take the oral exam of recommendation, feel interested in translation, especially in oral interpretation. As a matter of fact, auditive reception and vocal expression, the dominant characteristics of oral interpretation, strongly attractive for students. In the process of foreign language learning, students' abilities in writing and reading are much better than their listening comprehension and oral expression, because they usually rely too much on the written language. Therefore, if we can add the training of oral interpretation to their course of learning, I believe students' listening and speaking abilities can be greatly improved; and, moreover, it helps positively to enhance the entirety of French language learning. This paper mainly covers the content and experience of my teaching of oral interpretation in the French Department at Fu Jen University in the past eight years. It includes the goal of learning, teaching materials and methods, the techniques of note taking in consecutive interpretation, and what the students have leaned in this course.
