中國馬車起源問題一直是學界相當關注卻未完全解決的一個重要問題。中國以外的學者主要認為中國馬車是由西方傳布而來。近年來，中國學者從不同的角度探討這個問題，對中國馬車西來或是起源於本土，尚未能得到完全的共識。 檢驗西方馬車發展的脈絡，以及學者們所使用的考古材料(包括考古出土遺跡遺物、岩畫等)、傳世文獻、傳說等等，顯示在馬車由東往西傳布的過程，或是中國自新石器時代至商代晚期之間馬車發展過程的兩種論點中，都存在著無法填補的空間或時間缺環。要能完全解開中國馬車起起源問題，還有待於新的考古材料問世。

Worldwide scholars are interested in seeking for the origins of Chinese chariots, and become a debate for a long time. Western scholars think Chinese chariot was inducted from the West. Some Chinese scholars agree with the Western scholars, but some intend to think Chinese chariot was originated form Central Plain. This article reviews the past studies about the origins of Chinese Chariots, and the update evidences for this question, i.e. archaeological finds, historical documents and, legends, to compare different kinds of views and materials. Unfortunately, both assumptions still can’t truly prove by the materials, a persuasive argument has not come out yet. The quest is waiting for new archaeological evidences.
