The study was to take the freshmen of 2002 and 2003 as subjects and the valid samples were 1067 (including 170 male and 317 female students of 2002; 183 male and 397 female students of 2003) by sampling randomly. The study respected to understand the conditions and differences among the freshmen of 2002 and 2003 and compared to the norm of Ministry of Education. The analysis results could be offered to the students for evaluating their conditions of physical fitness and provided refernce materials for setting or adjusting the contents and teaching goals of athletic curricula as well. Testing items were height, weight (BMI), flexibility, power, muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance (800m、1600m run-walk). The statistical results were as follow: 1. in BMI, the difference among male students of 2002 and 2003 was significant. 2. In flexibility, the difference among female students of 2002 and 2003 was significant, female students of 2003 were better than those of 2002. 3. In power, the difference among the freshmen of 2002 and 2003 was significant, male students of 2002 were better than those of 2003; female students of 2003 were better than those of 2002. 4. In muscle strength, the difference among the freshmen of 2002 and 2003 was significant, male students of 2002 were better than those of 2003; female students of 2002 were better than those of 2003. 5. in cardiovascular endurance, the difference among the freshmen of 2002 and 2003 was significant, male students of 2003 were better than those of 2002; female students of 2003 were better than those of 2002. As a whole, the power programs should be enhanced for male students of 2002 and 2003 in the future, the power programs for female students of 2002, and the power and muscle strength programs for female students of 2003. Meanwhile, the freshmen of 2002 and 2003 should enhance the training of cardiovascular endurance particularly in order to increase the level of physical fitness.
