This case report presents the nursing experience of a teenager with ASD facing physical and mental problems caused by the operation. Based on gordern functional health assessment guide, the author assesses the patient's condition and collects data with observation, interview, VAS (Visual analogue Scale) from Jan. 21 to Feb. 1, 2005. Four nursing problems are found accordingly: anxiety, pain, risk of inflection and knowledge deficient. Within this period, the author uses the pre-operation and post-operation nursing concept, offering caring and satisfying needs of the patient by listening, company, caring. Further, through discussion on the care plan with the medical team and family, the author assists the patient and family to overcome the impact better and become acquainted with self-care. Finally, this report is expected to be the valuable reference and better enhance quality of comprehensive care for the nursing staff.
