The aim of the paper is to solidify the foundation of the folk sports in Taiwan. The Sports Department of the Ministry of Education started a plan to promote the folk sports in elementary schools within the island in early 1990. Hoping to transfer the experiences of the traditional culture to the next generation, based on carrying out the policy of the promotion on the traditional art education in elementary schools, therefore, the folk sports have become the center piece of the schools as they try to develop the unique of their own. For example, the 2005 diabolo-playing world champion-Lin-Wei-Lian, a brilliant folk sports player who had joined the field and been trained for decades since his primary school age, cultivated under serious training and continuous progress in skills made him a superhero of Taiwan and walked away with the title in Japan, finally we all saw the sweet victory by passing the torch. Significantly, it is crucial that whether the folk sports are prosperous or not is connected tightly with what the extent of the promotion has been done to the generation in elementary schools. This research has made it clear that how many the folk sports teams had been set up since 1991 and how are they now in 2006, try to figure out the changes of the history of the development in Hsinchu County. In doing field working and coordinating the oral history by interviewing the instructors or coaches of the folk sports teams, also the administrative personnel in schools, to figure out what the findings I have got and what the suggestions can be provided to be the reference to the all levels of the sports administration unit of the education or the authority of the government, when they try to do something that is about the promotion of the folk sports in elementary schools around the country.
