This report describes the research and development of tests in the College Entrance Examination Center (CEEC). The process of research was divided into four stages: test analysis, development of the General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT), development of the Department Required Test (DRT), and development of the item bank. CEEC had also developed the Chinese composition test, the English writing test, and one of the foreign (Japanese) language proficiency tests. CEEC had gained very high esteem from the public with regard to the principles of item writing, item design, item style, and so on. However, in the face of the simplification of textbooks, reduction of teaching hours, and changes in higher education, CEEC has to work harder on research and the innovative improvement of testing for the future. In the field of counseling and educational tests, CEEC has continuously accomplished reliability and validity evidence in the ECCE Interest Inventory, the College Major Probe Interest Inventory, the Scholastic Aptitude Tests, and the Work Value Scale.
