面對新時代內在與外在環境的劇烈改變及挑戰,公共圖書館如欲永續經營,除需良好的行政管理及具備核心知能的館員外,亦需積極發展館員的通才知能。公共圖書館透過教育訓練可以提升館員相關通才知能。本文首先闡述公共圖書館的角色、功能及服務型態轉變,繼而探討公共圖書館館員需具備之通才知能,再以臺北市立圖書館及國立臺中圖書館之館員教育訓練課程為例,分析課程內容與館員實際需求之落差。
In the information market place, Internet, Google, the bookstores and other for–profit information agencies can locate and deliver information to users at much lower cost. This situation of newer competition means that the role of public libraries and public librarians must be repositioned. For the public libraries and public librarians to survive as professionals, this article argues that the generic competencies, such as communication, leadership, management, creativity, stress and emotional management are the keys to success.
