摘要自1976年迄今，安東尼‧布朗(Anthony Edward Tudor Browne, 1946–)共計出版了約四十部圖畫故事書，包括為青少年與兒童文學作品繪製的插畫、古典名著之改編以及深受小朋友喜愛之「威利」(Willy)系列等自寫自畫作品。不過，儘管早已著作等身且不乏知名獎項（如安徒生獎）之肯定，截至目前為止，國內外針對布朗的研究對於解釋布朗何以成為後現代時期的代表普遍提不出具體的明證。本文對於布朗的探討，因此特別專注在他對於傳統圖畫故事書的推陳出新，這些特殊建樹不只是讓他得以躋身「新類型」圖畫書藝術家之林，也預示了圖畫書未來的諸多可能性，對於有志於圖畫書創作者，不啻是重要的參考。
