In order to adapt the requirements and trends in broadcast and to increase excitement of the games, International Archery Federation (Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc, FITA) had announced to execute the new ”set system” since April 1, 2010. The purpose of the study is to introduce the new set system and to explore its designs and characteristics, and then, to discuss possible responses to the new archery system in Taiwan. The method of the study is to compare the differences between original Olympic match system and the new set system by using archery professional analysis and discussion. The findings identified that design of new set system increases the unpredictability of the matches and modifies weakness of the original Olympic match system. In addition, under the design of set system, elite archers would have to suffer significantly higher stress levels to keep outstanding performance. Therefore, psychological preparations of archers have become one of the crucial training elements to matches. The study suggests that trainings of archers in Taiwan are recommended to increase more psychological sessions to maintain high levels of international performance.
