Although "Yuan Shi" has only four volumes, it is considered China's most systematic poetry. Previous research focused mostly on the study of theoretical system for "Yuan Shi" as well as influence from the theory of "Yuan Shi." However, there is still room for more research on the relativity between problems of that time faced by "Yuan Shi" and its theory. This research tries to explore the relativity between the creation motive for "Yuan Shi" and poetry community's arguments at that time. With this, there are three issues need to be discussed: 1. Discussion of "Yuan Shi" problem ideology from the cultural perspective surrounding Ye Xie; 2. What is the theory system for "Yuan Shi"; 3. If the theory structure for "Yuan Shi" was able to respond to academic arguments at that time. Discussion will be conducted from the following perspectives: 1. Problem ideology for Ye Xie's creation of "Yuan Shi" - Arguments between Tang Poetry and Sung Poetry; 2. The nature and everything in the world are changing constantly - versatility-based discussion on the history of poetry; 3. Objective model for "Yuan Shi": three elements of truth, matter and affection; 4. Discussion on theory and methodology; 5. Subjective model for "Yuan Shi": four elements of talent, courage, knowledge and power; 6. Subjective and objective theories' analysis on the arguments between Tang Poetry and Sung Poetry. Conclusion: Contributions and Restrictions for "Yuan Shi" Theory: corresponding positioning and evaluation on "Yuan Shi" was made based on the theory.
