The present paper intents to base upon the concepts of "entre", "ecart" and the related reflections on "common/communication" developed by French philosopher Francois Jullien in his cross-cultural studies to explore the idea of the universal in an inter-cultural perspective and to clarify its ideological problems. It will not only try to understand the dialectical relationship between the universal and the common/communication in the thinking of Francois Jullien, but also take the exposition "A Contemporary Dialogue with Michelangelo" as an example to interpret the possible aspects of the problems related to the universality in the contemporary curation.
