How the abstract art could, from the viewpoint of the non-figuration, the non-representation, accede to Universality in Art, and open to the Universal in a unique way? This paper starts by discussing the issues about the conflicts and reconciliations between the universal and the individual. Then follow some analyses on the ways of treating the question of the image in the creative process for the Universal dimension. It searches as well in the overview of a transcultural dialogue, through some concrete examples in contemporary art. This paper aims to understand the spirit of the Universal in Art today, examining how the historicity of this concept, implied in contemporary art, reflects correspondently, the evolution of some ideas around the concept of the Universal, in philosophy. "The creative abstraction" thus here becomes the filter for re-thingking the relationship between abstraction and universality.
