|This study first defined "indigenous cultures (ICs)" and, from the viewpoint of talent cultivation, summarized the possible content and coverage for the teaching of Taiwanese cultures of the departments of Japanese (JDs) for inbound tours in the tourism industry. Six teachers were interviewed to explore the current teaching status and relevant issues of courses regarding Taiwanese cultures introduced in Japanese. About the presentation of the education of ICs, this study found four features, field support, outside-classroom teaching, fund investment, and combination of certificates. Yet, this study also found five major issues regarding the courses, namely extracurricular activities causing burdens on teachers, research of new teaching methods, exploration of diversified multiple assessments methods, teachers' burdens of fund search and physical strength, and trainings for students' presentation skills. The teaching method used by the JDs for teaching ICs is innovative and practical, interesting, and appreciated. It has three implied meanings: satisfying demands of businesses and learners and fulfilling the learner-centered doctrine, focusing on practical teaching content, and achieving cross-field implementation of "Japanese pedagogy"
