Researchers often refer to “My Face And…”, a poem by Kenji
Miyazawa, when examining his relationship with the Industrial Union, but
they seldom take up the work as a subject research, let alone discussing it
in details. Given the lack of attention to “My Face And…”, the author
explored the creation and revision of the poem, and even pointed to some
new discovery based on the study of its draft. Moreover, assuming that a
separate work, “Kosuke, In the Early Dawn”, was written based on the
same experience that inspired “My Face And…”, the author also looks for
clues in the former when studying the creation of the latter. The study
found that the two poems both address the widespread inequalities in
social class and education plaguing Waga District of Iwate Prefecture.
