After the “Xuanwu Gate Incident,” although Li Yuan 唐高祖 and
his son Li Shimin 唐太宗 apparently reached a reconciliation, until
Li Yuan's death, both sides could not clear up their differences, and
they still held grudges against each other. Li Shimin’s retaliation
against Li Yuan, such as abolishing policies, relocating places of
residence, and prohibiting activities; Li Yuan expressed dissatisfaction
with Li Shimin’s use of military coup to force him to abdicate,
constantly insinuating and refusing to show goodwill, and preventing
potential harm caused by Li Shimin. From Li Shimin’s attitude
towards Li Yuan, it can be inferred that Li Shimin suffered from Post-
traumatic stress disorder after the Xuanwu Gate Incident.
