隨著社會不斷的進步，人類對資訊的需求愈來愈迫切，資訊藉由科技的發展亦不斷的暴漲，面對這些龐大繁雜的資訊，要能有效的精選與掌握也愈發困難。尤其在繁忙的工商企業中，資訊代表了一種情報，一種利器，有足夠的資訊才能在競爭激烈的工商社會中捷足先登，做正確的判斷及具前瞻性的考慮。然而許多人士一方面苦無時間至資料單位查尋資料，另一方面亦不知如何有效、快速且正確的進行查尋，對於資料的訊息難以掌握，面對這些問題，資訊仲介服務業（InformationBroker）於是興起，它專門出售資訊服務，幫助工商界人士、政府機構官員及社會人士，依據個別不同的需求，即時提供最適用的資訊，是一收費性的營利公司。本文即在探討國內外資訊仲介服務業之意義與發展，研究資訊仲介服務業在資訊工業社會中所扮演的角色，其服務、技術、計價、以及與圖書館服務的關係。

　　　　　With the escalation of social progress, there have been more urgent requirements for updating information by people of all walks of life all over the world and information explosion has thus been prevalent as a result of the development of science and technology. In face of such numerous and complicated information, it has become more difficult to effectively select and hold the related data. Therefore, the information broker business has sprung up exclusively for rendering information service with profitable service charges to business people and industrial enterprises, government officials and people of all walks of life on the basis of their own requirements and most prompt and proper information. The paper aims to point out the significance and development of the information broker business at home and abroad and study the role played by the information brokers in information society, its service, technology, charge rates and relationship with the library service.
