OPAC系統的檢索成效，一直是從事圖書資訊學研究的學者所關心探討的課題，近 來隨著資訊檢索技術的逐年進步，一些學者指出OPAC也應該像先進資訊系統一樣提供Fuzzy Search的功能。因此為了瞭解Fuzzy Search對OPAC檢索應用的實際成效，也為了希望觀察 出Fuzzy Search 對中文OPAC的檢索價值，本文作者收集國內外相關文獻、多次參與國際網 路電子論壇、以及利用中研院資訊所所發展出的Csmart檢索系統進行若干實驗分析，並有 了一些心得，包括提出中文OPAC目前一些待解決的問題，建議擴充Csmart在中文OPAC的應用 ，整理需要藉助OPAC提昇檢索效率的查詢類型、以及瞭解Fuzzy Search技術應 用在中文OPAC的檢索成效等。綜言之，本文作者認為不論中英文OPAC系統皆應考慮提供 Fuzzy Search功能以提昇檢索成效，而且Fuzzy Search功能特別有助於解決諸多現 行中文OPAC檢索上的困難。但是Fuzzy Search 在OPAC主題檢索的部份目前仍只能扮演輔 助性的角色，需要電腦與資訊學者再進一步深入研究。　　

　　　　　Research in retieval performance on OPAC has been a major topic for information professionals. With the advancement of informatin retrieval techniques, fuzzy serch capabilities have been suggested to be applied to OPAC systems. To better understand the value of fuzzy search and its application in Chinese OPAC systems, the author proposed a series of finding on the problems of Chinese OPACs needed to be solved, the serach types suitable for fuzzy searching, and the retrieval performance of fuzzy search in Chinese OPACs. An experimental model adapted from Csmart Retrieval System has been modified and tested. The results show that fuzzy search is very useful in Chinese OPAC searching, with conclusion that it is a necessary function for both Chinese and Western OPAC systems. Also discussed are potential problems, such as subject searching, associated with fuzzy search which require further research.
