The steady increase of elders makes the population of Taiwan to an agin g trend. It implies that in the near future, elder travelers will become a considerable proportion of traffic. However, due to the minor representative, problems relative to elders tend to be neglected. The existing transportation systems are typically designed without considering the special needs of elders. It often causes inconvenience as well as potential danger to them. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate elders' travel characteristics, to draw up important transportation issues for future research and to assess the relative priority of these issues. A procedure based on the Delphi method is proposed to collect opinions, suggestions and comments of experts from diverse backgrounds. Accordingly, future projects could be programmed to improve the mobility and safety of elders.
