　　　　　企業為因應國際分工與產業競爭激烈的情勢，必須不斷追求成長，多角化策略即為企業維持競爭優勢、確保生存的途逕之一。有關多角化之諸多實證研究中，是以多角化程度與績效關係之研究為主，而多角化、績效之界定與多角化程度之衡量，均足以影響實證研究結果。本研究始自探究熵的意涵與演進，並運用類比推理原則，建構在實證研究中，如何將熵的法則應用成多角化程度衡量的一般化公式，同時並提出心得與建議。

　　　　　Faced with the trends of international division of labor intense competition in industry, an enterprise has to strive for its constant growth. Diversification is one of the ways for the enterprise tomaintain its competitive advantage and ensure its survival. Among the many empirical studies bearing on diversification, those that deal with the relationship between the extent of diversification and performance are in the majority. The definitions of diversification and performance and the measurement of diversification level are all capable of influencing the results of such empirical studies. This study starts by exploring the meanings and history of the term "Entropy". Then, the principle of analogy is used to establish a general formula for the "law of Entropy" applying to diversification measurements in empirical studies. The results and implications of this study are then discussed.
