Lu-kuei pu 錄鬼簿, written by Chung Ssu-ch'eng 鍾嗣成 in Yuan dynasty, is one of the most imporant references about San-ch'u 散曲, His-ch'u mu-lu 戲曲目錄 as well as the lives of shu-hui ts'ai-jen 書會才人 and Ming-kung shih-fu 名公士夫 in Yuan-tai. In Lu-kuei pu, Chung Ssu-ch'eng wrote elegies for nineteen of the Ming-kung and Ts'ai-jen, while Chia Chung-ming 賈仲明, in late Y·an and early Ming, added another eighty elegies for another ninety-one writers. All these enrich the amounts of studies on yuan-chu (Yuan drama). By using all the data relating to Shu-hui and Ts'ai-jen presented in Lu-kuei pu, this study attempts to examine the position of Shu-hui and Ts'ai-jen in yuan-chu as well as the devotion of shu-hui and Ts'ai-jen to the development of yuan-chu. It will be shown by three parts which focus on the relationship between Shu-hui and Ts'ai-jen, Ts'ai-jen and Ts'ai-jen, Ts'ai-jen and Yi-jenYo, respectively.
