The purpose of this study is to develop a language learning classroom model for kindergarten teaching in Taiwan. These writers adopt Holdaway's natural learning classroom model and Goodman's whole language approach to develop a Whole Language Natural Learning Classroom Model. Three kindergartens were selected to be the target settings for the implementation of this model. The experimental teaching lasted three months. The process included eight hours stuff development courses, mid-term and final meeting with the researchers, visiting a whole language classroom, joining guest speakers' lecture, and presentation of teaching experiences. The data includes literature review, classroom observation and recording, teachers' journal, interview of the teachers, and the work of the young children. The findings include: 1. There is a significant progress in terms of children's reading and writing development, this is especially true for those children with language or emotional problems. 2. The data reveals that children show their strong interests in prints, and become very sensitive toward prints after the implementation. 3. Many evidences indicate that a positive professional development in early childhood teachers, most of them declared that they are more satisfied and confident with their own teaching than ever. 4. Most of the parents are positive and supportive toward the whole language natural learning classroom model.
