本文主要探討一個問題，到底哈柏瑪斯的批判理論在批判什麼？哈柏瑪斯對於舊批判理論的重構工程中，蘊涵了對於批判一詞的重新界定。放在德國哲學史的脈絡中，我們可以說，哈柏瑪斯逐漸地由馬克思式的政治經濟學批判，回到康德式的批判哲學。我們認為，由批判一詞意義的轉化可以掌握哈柏瑪斯思想的進展之概要，並且也可以提供一個反省地整體理論的參考座標。

Our essay takes up the question proposed by Nancy Fraser, what is critical about critical theory of Habermas? As the architect of a grand paradigm, Habermas tried to rebuild the old critical theory from its ruin. His reconstruction implied working out a new meaning of critique. Placed in the context of German philosophy, we argue that Habermas was gradually shifting Marxian Critique of political economy back to Kantian critical philosophy. The change of what counts as critique provides us an analytical perspective to gauge the development of his social theory.
