　　　　　中國人口流動已成為近二十年來中國經濟社會發展在人口領域的顯著現象。人口 流動的急遽增長，是市場經濟發展的必然產物，而鄉鎮企業帶來的人口流動、農村剩餘勞力 的轉移、小城鎮發展及環境問題都是有待深入探討的。本論文根據統計與文獻分析介紹中國 流動人口，鄉鎮企業及廣東省外來女性勞工之適應三大方面。從前人的研究結果得知鄉鎮企 業對女性地位與角色有相當正面的影響，但是由於受傳統的偏見與社會經濟發展水準的影響 ，外來女性勞工在身心調適以及平等參與等方面，仍遭遇許多困難和阻力，特別是女工權益 未被重視及保障。鄉鎮企業被認為是鄉村工業化以及中國鄉村一城市轉型的主導力量。未來 對中國外來民工，尤其是對佔一半以上的外來女工所產生之衝擊的深入瞭解以及管理實屬必 要。
　　　　　In the last 20 years, the population of China underwent natural and social changes unprecedented in scope. The massive scale of population migration has been due to outflow of excess farm labor, the demand of labor by cities and industries, and the relaxation of government policy toward migration. Drawing upon the rural labor force, township enterprises in China have engaged more than one billion people, speeded up the development of small towns and brought about environmental pollution in various areas. The focus of this paper is on the employment of rural female migrants in township industries in the Pearl River Delta, which has attracted over five million migrant workers. This study is built on the statistics and literature on population migration, township enterprises and surveys of female workers in Kwangtung. Rural females benefited from emancipation from the hardship of rural labor and the opportunity to be economically independent and to learn new skills. On the other hand, they experienced low status at work, discouragement in finding spouses and working in enterprises that do not provide adequate protection and welfare at the work place. The collection of published materials and scholarly exchanges across the straits generated in this research project over a two-year period (1996-1998) will be valuable for carrying out China Studies in the future.
