China is no longer China if the persons who see China interpret it in different ways in accordance with their social positions in terms of locality, ethnicity, and party membership. Based upon field research, literature, and some imagination, this paper examines the multiple meanings of being Chinese. In the end, The paper attempts a brief implication to Taiwan's own identity politics.
