The Babao song script of the Zhuang in Guangnan county, Yunnan province is a kind of ideographic pictorial symbols inscribed on the daily utensils for reminding contents of folk songs. These symbols and folk songs reflect contents such as value of life of the Zhuang people,their knowledge of production and livelihood experiences,social cultural activities and many others.1072 pictorial symbols in total of these song scripts have been collected. Both the Babao song script and the Poya song script of the Funing county belong to the same kind of symbol system. The discovery of the Babao song script is significant for the research of philology, literature, music and art,and society.
