馬克思主編的《新萊茵報》是第一家無產階級日報,也是世界上第一個馬克思主義政黨——共產主義者同盟實際上的機關報。它是馬克思和恩格斯新聞觀的第一次完整實踐,也是馬克思和恩格斯一生新聞實踐中唯一一次完全掌握了報紙的編輯權和實際經營權。至今,還沒有哪個國家的學界把《新萊茵報》完整地翻譯為本國文字,如果我們能夠完成這項工作,將是馬克思主義研究中的一個壯舉。鑒于《新萊茵報》十分之九的內容沒有翻譯為中文且幾乎沒有中國人根據原版進行過研究,編譯《新萊茵報》中文版的政治意義和學術意義顯然不言而喻。我國《新萊茵報》的研究,需要突破德語的屏障,以《馬克思恩格斯全集》歷史考證版(MEGA2)第Ⅰ部分第7卷的出版為契機,把馬克思主義新聞觀的研究真正提升到學術化和國際化的高度。《新萊茵報》編譯工作的第一個原則是仿照《馬克思恩格斯全集》中文版(特別是第二版)的編譯規格和樣式,甚至一些地方比《全集》中文版還要全面和翔實。第二個原則是忠實再現報紙的版面原貌。因為報紙報道與一般論著的區別在于涉及新聞傳播的職業表達。報紙版面編排本身,是一種無形的"版面語言",是體現馬克思和恩格斯新聞觀的最直接的新聞實踐資料。

The Neue Rheinische Zeitung edited by Karl Marx is the first daily newspaper of the proletariat and the first substantive Marxist party’s organ newspaper for the Communist League. This is the first complete practice of Marx and Engels’ view of journalism,and it is also the only time in their careers of journalism practice that Marx fully controlled the editing and practical management rights of a newspaper. At present,no one in any country has completely translated the Neue Rheinische Zeitung into their own language. If we can complete this work,it will be a great contribution to Marxist research. In view of the fact that nine tenths of the Neue Rheinische Zeitung has not been translated into Chinese and few Chinese have conducted research based on the original version,the political and academic significance of the translation and editing of the Neue Rheinische Zeitung is obviously self-evident. Research on the Neue Rheinische Zeitung in our country needs to break through the barrier of the German language. Taking the publication of MEGA2 I/7 as an opportunity,the study of the Marxist view of journalism is truly elevated to an academic and international level. The first principle of translation and editing of the Neue Rheinische Zeitung is to imitate the compilation specifications and styles of the Chinese version( especially the second version) of The Complete Works of Marx and Engels. Some places even have broader scopes and depths than the second version. The second principle is to faithfully reproduce the original layout of the newspaper.Because the difference between newspaper reports and general works lies in professional expressions involving journalism communication, the layout of the newspaper itself is an invisible appearance language. It is also the most direct practice material that reflects Marx and Engels’ views on journalism.
