Based on the 2008-2012 A-share non-financial listed companies as the research object, combined with the motivation of enterprise to fulfill the social responsibility, this paper discusses the inhibitory effect of different disclosure mode of CSR on the earnings management. The result shows that the inhibitory effect of mandatory disclosure of CSR on real earnings management is significant while voluntary disclosure have significant inhibitory effect on all kinds of earnings management. At the same time, further evidence shows that the enterprises implementing voluntary disclosure of corporate social responsibility report is for ethical motivation to fulfill social responsibility. Hence regulators should develop relevant policies to guide enterprises to perform social responsibility voluntarily, and encourage enterprises to improve the level of social responsibility.
