要理解觀眾是如何與電影互動的,需要一些電影呈現方面的理論作支撐。本文審視了如下三種理論:首先是"傳播模式",該理論假定作品內涵了信息或是由其組合而成,由信息的發送者將此傳遞給受眾。其次是"意指模式",認為電影是經由符碼系統的操作而得以運行的,主體通過解讀文本中符號信息與符碼的二元對立來生發出作品的意義。這種觀點將電影視為一種生產意義的符號行為,或許可以從經典結構主義與后結構主義的論述中尋其蹤跡。最后是"以經驗為根據的體驗模式",假設電影在于要形成觀眾的觀影經驗。本文所討論的電影研究中的認知主義即是立基于第三種呈現模式,同時這篇文章也將論及認知電影理論的優勢與薄弱之處,以及影片呈現的原理。
