　　　　　本論文討論現代中國小說中「瘋狂」的呈現。主要分為三部份：首先簡述中西方瘋狂概念。西方對瘋狂的思考開始甚早。希臘哲人蘇格拉底與柏拉圖都各有創見，也都對瘋狂有相當正面的詮釋。事實上，十七世紀之前，瘋狂與理性並不分家，正負評價也不明顯。十八世紀乃理性啟蒙時代，對瘋狂的貶抑不遺餘力。十九世紀又出現另一番光景──將瘋人視為神祕先知的作品，亦所在多有。到了果戈里的《狂人日記》（Madman’s Diary）時，瘋人已然成為震聾發瞶的社會導師了。魯迅的《狂人日記》可算是果氏日記的中國翻版。當然，魯迅之前，中國也有一長串的癲狂歷史。癲狂，與中國讀書人的個人節操以及淑世抱負關係密切。它是讀書人無法實踐大我，又不甘侷促於小我的「參政護身符」。我們從阮籍、李白，魯迅，到八、九○年代的中國知識分子身上，都看見了這道極為重要的保命符。本文最後細讀大陸作家余華與殘雪的瘋狂小說，剖析作家如何藉由描寫瘋狂，參與歷史。

　　　　　This paper aims to explore the relations between madness and modern Chinese fiction, with focus on the works of Yu Hua and Can Xue. The firt part presents an overview history of madness both in the west and the east, whose marriage occurred in Lu Xun's "The Diary of a Madman." The second part reviews Chinese conception of xiaowo and dawo, to analyze the ethics hid under the shelter of kuang/madness. The last part of the paper proceeds to a detailed analysis of the two writers' works.
