在歷史的事件中，戰爭是一個重要的問題與話題，它關乎人一生的報福與災難，也決定了國家的榮枯與盛衰。它是統治者與被統治者之間的角力，也是強者與弱者之間的拔河。主戰的人與好戰者往往可以由戰爭中漁利，反戰者與厭戰者往往則在戰爭中受苦，究竟戰爭的意義何在？ 一般對戰爭的研究多從客觀的層面，將它視為歷史中不可避免的「惡」，更以此來說明戰爭對人類的貢獻。從文化的結構面來看，似乎言之成理，而且所有發生戰爭的客觀因素是相同的，包括政治、經濟、社會等；但若從主觀的層面來說，戰爭純然是主戰者的心願，因個人的理解與情緒而造成，認為戰爭是解決目題最有效的方法。因此筆者捨客觀，改由主觀來探討戰爭的荒謬，找出發動戰的人所採用的藉口及被要求作戰者的傷痛，希望透過本文讀讀者感受到主戰者的傲慢與偏見。

　　　　　Among all historical events, war is an important issue and topic; it not only involves one's happiness and adversity but also decides the prosperity and decline of a country. It is a wrestle between the ruler and the ruled, the strong and the weak. The war hawks and the warmongers benefit from the wars while the peaceniks and the war-wearied people suffer from them. All in all, what's the meaning of war? Most war researches approach the objective side of war, see it as the inevitable "evil" of history history, and explain thereby its contributions to man kind. In view of the structure of culture, this seems to make sense, not to mention that the objective causes of war are the same, including the political, the economic and the social. Yet regarding the subjective side, war is nothing but the wish of the war hawks, since they see it as the best solution. Therefore the writer approaches the absurdity of wars on the subjective instead of the objective side, exposes the excuses of war-makers, and reveals the pains of those who are required to attend was. Hopefully the readers would see the pride and prejudices of the war hawks.
