身心障礙者因爲身體外在的缺陷,產生一些負面行爲表現,例如心理自卑、欠缺社會能力,造成自信心低弱、人際關係較差和學習態度不佳。身心障礙學生參與體育課程時,常被同儕摒除於團體外或是被動等待分組,使得他們恐懼參與體育課程。因此,提供適性的教學策略有助於改善身心障礙學生的社會融合,並且促進同儕間互動,提升社會生活適應能力。體育教師可以採用合作學習教學策略,以小組遊戲競賽法和協同合作法(Co-op)鼓勵身心障礙學生與同儕互動,改善提升體育活動學習成效。
