Females' body image has been a common research issue in sociology. In the context of sport-related discipline, quite a few scholars highly interested in this issue and indicated that women tend to utilize sport as a tool to improve their physical appearance, which constitutes the major core of their body image. This academic proposition imposes a serious critique by feminists, who suggest that sport should be recognized as a place for women to empower themselves, instead of being constrained by traditional patriarchy ideology. Due to this contradictory, this study conducted in-depth interviews and acquired women's recognition toward sport and their body. According to the conversation texts, three conclusions were made: first, women's body image could be understood from three levels: actual, ideal, and desirable images, and each one has different meanings from each other; Second, most women recognized sport as an instrument for helping them shape their body, and finally, the reason of how women use sport and treat their own body is due to the social expectation resulted from patriarchy. It is the least resistance path for women to exercise themselves in order to find a balance between social and self expectation.
