孫中山先生早在20世紀初已倡導「男女平權」，女性的工作權是女權的基礎。儘管女性參與勞動已是每個社會的普同價值，然而，「同工不同酬」卻普遍存在每個社會。因此，不僅檢視該現象，而且應該提出縮小的相關政策措施。爰此，本文首先討論美國「同工同酬」的沿革，接著分述Costello和Hegewisch (2016)對於美國性別薪資差距的基本事實，總結種族和民族，教育和職業男女性別薪資差異的數據。然後，分析男女薪資差距的原因，及其對婦女及其家庭的影響，以及可以幫助縮小它的政策措施。
