This paper concentrates to two major aspects in automated information retrieval-thesauri construction and computer software. An analysis of the fialutre of a fully-automated, wholly-computerized information retrieval system is given. Contrary to the conventional approach to automation, a man-centered approach using computer aids for the process of document analysis, indexing and search is introduced.
