　　　　　相關(Relevance)的概念是一種資訊檢索系統的評量方法，能從各種觀點 瞭解「相關」，才能瞭解資訊系統的效益。影響資訊系統和檢索過程的關鍵除了 技術外，最重要的因素是人的認知的個別差異。本文探討TefLo Saracevic的個人 背景，及其在「相關」與資訊檢索行為的主要論著，期能瞭解一代圖書館學與資 訊科學大師的看法，做為系統界面設計的參考。
　　　　　The notioii of relevance isone of the evaluation methods of information retrieval. The better weunderstand the meaning of relevancefrom different points of view, thebetter we can increase the effectiveness of information systems. Besidestechnology, the individual differenceof human cognitive decisions is themost important factor that influencesthe information retrieval. This articlediscusses the background of TefkoSaracevic and his major publicationson relevance and on informationseeking and retrieving behavior. Theconclusion may be helpful to designthe searching interfaces.
