During the decades of the 1980s and 1990s, library and information science education has undergone dramatic changes. Schools of library and information science have begun to feel the full force of the complexities of the information age. The revolutions of new technologies and information are having major impact upon the schools' curricula and the way the field is being defined. The nature of education programs of study has shifted from a focus on traditional librarianship to one that includes a wider range of information orientatins. The article mainly discusses curricula planning of library and information science in the United Kingdom and the United states. Firstly, it presents an introduction of education systems in the U.K. and the U.S.. Secondly, it analyzes the changes occurring among the library and information science education in both countries.
