The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of women toward the Pap smear examination in a teaching hospital. A structure and non-structure questionnaire was administered to 212 wonen selected by purposive sampling. The results indicated: (1) 88.2% women heart about the Pap smear examination and 57% of them took this examination.(2) Factors that determine women's decision to receive the Pap Smear were age, education, and their motivation to visiting doctors due to the cervical disease. Suggestions made by other persons and the levels of their recognition toward to the cervical cancer were also related to the willingness of receiving the examinaton. (3) The socioeconomic statuses that influence the cognitive scores to the cervical cancer were age, education, occupation, marriage status, and religion. (4) The source of knowledge of cervical cancer was largely from TV. (5) The main reason to take the Pap smear examination was for the sake of health. (6) The main reason not to take the examination was due to lack of clinical symptoms.
