WeChat is not simply a conduit or platform for news transmission;it is a space for news becoming.Unlike news production rooted in organization and professional operation,news becoming on WeChat may be viewed in production in interaction;namely,the journalistic mode is news as interaction.This new journalistic mode breaks the dichotomy between production and consumption and a sequential arrangement between them that undergird news production in mass media;it is production without origin.News tecoming on WeChat in manifested in a type of intertextuality characterized by multiplicity of links,intersections,and juxtaposition,enabling,as a result,not only emergiing information and imageries of the world,but also ambivalent and multi-vocal meanings.Moreover,news becoming on WeChat reconstructs our temporo-spatial experiences,blurs boundaries between the professional and the armature,as well as the public and the private,all of which traditional news production relies on and fortifies;it thus signifies an entirely new journalistic paradigm.Based on an analysis of empirical observations,this essay examines the relationship betweem news becoming on WeChat and human interactions,explores the challenges that the mode of "bgeoming in interactions"poses om various time-space stractures and boundaries in news production,and interprets the significance of the view of becoming in interactions.
