The prior researchers have devoted much effort to construct theoretical models, such as the technology acceptance model (TAM), the expectation confirmation model (ECM), and the cognitive model (COGM) for explaining and predicting user behavior in information system acceptance and continuance. The present study combines the three models by two central constructs: satisfaction and attitude into one model. In addition, this study further integrates motivation perspective, self-determination model (SDM). Even though information system continuance theory has received quite extensive attention in prior research, this study is among the initial researches to examine the effects of motivational factors affecting the synthesized model which combines TAM, ECM, and COGM. The results show that applying the four models to e-learning can be useful for explaining and predicting continuance intention.
