Although collaborative commerce is a pervasive strategy in competitive environment, the issue of collaborative relationship to facilitate the performance is a relatively recent development.
The understanding of how companies increase relationship between partners – the impact of collaborative capabilities, organizational culture-type, and information technology - is critical for collaborative commerce success. The study presents a theoretical model and empirically validates the model by conducting a questionnaire survey and using structural equation model (SEM) to analyze the responded data.
Our finding is that collaborative relationship can be defined as two construct including quality and strength. We also find that collaborative project performance is affected by organization commitment, relationship strength and collaborative technology. Relationship quality affects performance indirectly, through facets of commitment. In developing strong collaborative relationship, companies need changing adhocracy culture-type which organization is externally focused and desires flexibility and discretion.
Our work highlights the theoretical view of developing collaborative relationship. The study results concentrate on the influence factors of developing good collaborative relationship and having high collaborative performance, which provides an important reference for collaborative relationship management.
