本質性研究的目的在瞭解有性行為經驗之高職及大專學生在進行性行為時使用保險套的相關因素。研究對象為36名台北地區之高職、五專及大學學生。研究方法採半結構式個別深度訪談，會談內容經錄音，逐字書面化後做內容分析。研究結果顯示在36名受訪個案中，有6名女性及11名男性個案表示曾有過性經驗，且其中有8位個案有過一位以上的性伴侶。上述個案在與性伴侶發生第一次性行為時，均無使用保險套。所有30名受訪的個案均表示知道使用保險套為防治愛滋病及性病的重要及有效方法，但17位具性經驗者使用保險套的情形並不普遍，當有使用保險套時，其主要目的為避孕，較少考慮性病及愛滋病防治。由訪談資料中，可歸納出受訪個案使用保險套的主要理由依序為避孕、對性伴侶認識不深、父母與手足的告誡、同儕間的影響、習慣、以及取得保險套的便利性。 而不使用保險套的原因包括:不習慣於與新性伴侶的第一次性經驗時使用、沒有懷孕的顧慮、信任性伴侶、妨礙性行為的快感、性伴侶反對使用、瞭解性伴侶的性史經歷及無法取得保險套等。

　　　　　The purpose of this qualitative study was to understand condom use among sexually activevocational high school and college students. Semi-structured and individual in-depth interviews wereused for data collection. Thirty-six subjects were selected from vocational high schools and collegesin Taipei area. All interviews were tape recorded, transcribed verbatim, and coded into inductivecategories based on content analysis. Six woman and II men admitted having sexual experience.Eight participants admitted having more than one sexual partner. All participants who had sexualexperience admitted that they did not use condoms use the first time they had intercourse. All participantsknew that condom use was the best method to prevent HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.However, condom use was not popular among the 17 sexually experienced participants. The reasonsfor using condoms were as follows: prevention of pregnancy, an unfamiliar partner, advice fromparents and siblings, peer influences user had become accustomed to condoms , and availability ofcondoms. The reasons for not using condoms were first sexual intercourse with a new partner, no riskof pregnancy, trust of sexual partner, negative sensation during sexual arousal, known sexual historyof partner, and non-availability of condoms.
