Academic administration currently puts a great emphasis on both the service of academic instruction and the importance of interaction among administrators, faculties and students. Conventional academic information systems tended to offer an operational environment only for the enhancement of administrative efficiency rather than to construct an integrated academic network for the connection between administration and instruction or for the interaction between administrators, teachers and students. This research project aims to improve the shortages of conventional academic information systems mentioned above by reconstructing a new information system, which will facilitate the interaction among administrators, teachers and students as well as to promote administrative efficiency. It has been activated formally in the National Taipei Teachers College (NTPTC). The newly designed system will be revised accordingly with the experience obtained from implementing, and its function will also be expanded gradually and it will be further introduced to the other related schools. The results of this research indicate that, after the newly designed information system was implemented, the faculty and students of NTPTC worked more efficiently. They felt much more satisfactory with the efficiency of school administration, and felt proud of being one of the members of NTPTC. In sum, the new academic information system greatly improved the teaching and learning environment of the whole school and impose a very positive impact on the administrative efficiency. It is worth being introduced to all the levels of schools in Taiwan.
