In Mongolian history, sharing of property is a long-standing tradition in the royal family. Such a tradition has had a great impact on several unique political features of the Mongol Empire. This article will elucidate the succession process of the Khaghan. The following topics will be discussed in detail: 1. Before a new Khaghan was appointed, the youngest son or the queen (or Khatun) was in charge f political affairs. 2. The queen was heavily involved in the succession process. 3.
