題名:視覺文化藝術教育理論及其對臺灣藝術與設計教學之啟示

後現代年代中視覺文化似乎已是教育研究與實務中的重要議題。視覺文化中影像經常比文字之傳達較為迅速而有效,且更符合當今生活之 方式與步調,因而視覺文化為構成我們每日生活之重要因素。有些視覺影像之意義必須透過特別之解讀才能理解,同時粗淺之理解易導致對學 生之負面效應,因此教育學生選擇與辨識之能力以使其因應這複雜之視覺文化誠屬必要。 基於前述之認識,本文試圖以理論分析與綜合方法,探討視覺文化藝術教育之理論、以及該理論對臺灣藝術與設計教學之啟示。在視覺文 化藝術教育理論之部分,本文擬從視覺文化基礎理論與視覺文化藝術教育基礎理論兩面向加以探討,前者包括視覺文化背景、意義、視覺文化 與視覺藝術之關係、關於視覺文化之爭論、以及視覺文化研究方法之重點。後者包括視覺文化藝術教育之理由、目標,批判教育學之應用、視 覺文化藝術教育之要素,與實施重點。在結論中,本文闡明三項啟示為:視覺文化藝術與設計教育之意義與重要性之理解,配合視覺文化優缺 點之考慮以擴展藝術與設計教育課程內容,以及視覺文化研究與教學方法之應用等。
Visual culture has become an important issue in the research and practice of education in postmodern era. Visual images have the capacity to communicate more rapidly and effectively than words, and to keep up with the ways and pace of contemporary life. Because of that, visual culture is a vital element that constitutes our daily life. To understand the meaning of some visual images requires special reading and decoding. Superficial understanding tends to cause negative effects to students. Equipping students with the ability to select and discriminate for good adaptation to the complicated visual culture is necessary. Through theoretical analysis and synthesis, the article attempts to deal with the theories on visual cultural art education, and their implication for art and design education in Taiwan. As far as the former, the article analyzes fundamental theories on both visual culture and visual cultural art education. In the aspect of visual culture, its background, meaning, the relation of visual culture and visual arts, the controversies on visual culture, and key concepts of the methods in visual culture study are involved. For the latter, the rationale, objectives, the application of critical pedagogy, as well as the elements and emphases in visual cultural art education are included. In the conclusion, the article illuminates the implications: (a) understanding the meaning and significance of visual cultural art and design education, (b) expanding the scope of content in visual cultural art and design education, by considering the merits and weaknesses of visual cultural, and (c) applying the methods of visual cultural study and teaching.
