本研究的主要目的為研究多國籍企業子公司演化中少被注意到的闕環--即研究子公司角色如何改變及討論什麼因素會造成其變化的產生。本研究將子公司的主導行為視為一重要的驅動力量,並將之區分為兩種不同的類型。在子公司的層次上,本研究認為有數個組織層次的因素會影響到子公司如何因應組織惰性,並接續影響到子公司採取不同類型的主導行為,而不同類型的主導行為則會進一步影響到子公司未來的決策自主權。決策上的自主權的增加可視為可將在多國籍企業中獲取較高的活動範疇(新的產品或市場空間)。本研究在研究背景的設定上也符於多國籍企業臺灣子公司所處之經濟以及文化的情境,故亦值得進行較為深入的探究。
This aim of this paper is to investigate how subsidiaries change roles and what factors promote such a shift with the intension to explore the missing link of multinational subsidiary evolution. Specifically, I will examine the determinants of the subsidiary's decision making autonomy and different forms of subsidiary initiatives. It s proposed that the subsidiary's evolution is triggered by producing initiatives, which lead them to obtaining further decision-making autonomy for a future extension of a new charter (i.e., new product or market scope). The initiatives are the main building blocks in the theoretical framework and are of great importance to be examined in details.
