題名:雙語能力與跨文化認同之對應--以南加州兩所中文學校為例

本文旨在以美國南加州兩所中文學校為例,就社會、文化、語言學角度,探討跨文化認同與雙語能力間的對應關係,及形成此對應關係的可能因素。除以統計量化方式調查上述各方人員在美國華教文化中所扮演的角色,亦以質化方式紀錄實際教學狀況與個案分析。本文作者於2005至2006年以問卷、採訪、課堂觀察,分別在位於加州洛杉磯與聖地牙哥之兩所中文學校密集進行資料蒐集。所發問卷共計三份,填寫問卷人員計319 位家長、47 位教師、以及 209 位學生。研究結果顯示就讀於兩所中文學校之學生,在中英文雙語能力的養成,並非如學理定義之「雙語型教學」所能具有之績效。校務人員及家長的反應,學生的雙語學習量表,皆顯示現在以英語為主導的社會,學生對跨文化認同較傾向美國主流價值,並連帶影響其對中文母文化的學習。
