Handwritten is the concrete appearance of ancient Chinese writings, so that it has identified real value in researching variants of folk characters. To reflect more true circumstances on using words, we ground on studying these references. This study aims at using the Chinese character variants in Tunhwang Handwritten Chinese Vulgar Words S.388 to analyze the variants through the way of radical analysis and to generalize its variants. Moreover, we compare the variants with the Tang Dynasty's typographical errors in depth; and the study is appendixed with ”The Form about Variations of Structures and Radical of Character Variants in Handwritten.” We will present the ascendant and profundity of real value in handwritten, on the other aspect, and also appear concretely the differences between the variants and typographical errors. On the dimensions of realizing the character's variant, evolution and the feature of Chinese character carriers, the thesis might be valuable for reference.
