The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service teacher education curriculum for special education teachers, and to compare the differences of teacher education curriculum between Mainland China and Taiwan. The cases selected from the departments of special education at National Taichung University of Education in Taiwan, and the department of special education at Nanjing Technical College of Special Education in Mainland China. The obtained results of the study indicate that the differences of teacher education curriculum for special education between two schools are based on as follows: 1. special education polices; 2.the classification of students with disabilities; 3. academic certificates; 4.teaching practices; 5. relative professional services and assistive technology; 6.the diverse needs of the students with disabilities; 7. the classification of students with disabilities or students with gifts and talents. Based on the results, further discussion and some suggestions for pre-service teacher education of special education as well as further research are offered.
