Mainland of China has the most population with disabilities in the world. After Culture Revolution, the teachers preparation in higher Education for students with visual impairments has a dramatic change. The main purpose of this paper is to study the teacher preparation system in higher education for students with visual impairments in Mainland of China. Because of the limitation of pages, there are only three institutions which have different educational goals and objectives are compared, including Nanjing Institute of Special Education Technology, Beijing Normal University and East China Normal University. This study explores the differences between these higher education institutions in terms of the training objectives, the school system, enrollment targets, curriculum and content, teacher endorsement and educational challenges. Also, this study explores several challenges faced by the institutions mentioned above. Finally, some suggestions that can be used as references for improving the educational quality of students with blind and visually impaired are discussed.
