越來越多的圖書館應用社會性軟體傳布資訊服務，藉此擴展圖書館的服務範圍，增加與使用者的互動，拉近圖書館與使用者間的距離，並提升圖書館在網路世界的能見度。雖然社會性軟體的應用為圖書館帶來許多好處，但同時也讓圖書館面臨許多問題與挑戰，促使圖書館必須在社會性軟體的應用上要有審慎的規劃，方能發揮社會性軟體的實際效益。本文透過文獻與對紐西蘭公共圖書館網站的分析，瞭解社會性軟體在圖書館的應用情形、方式和問題，希望藉此能讓國內公共圖書館在應用社會性軟體時有所參考。
More and more libraries employ social media to disseminate information in order to broaden the scope of services, to increase user interactions, to bridge the gap with users, and to enable the libraries more visible in the internet age. Although the application of social media software brings many advantages to the library, it also challenges the library. This in turn promotes the move toward adequate planning of social media applications and then to guarantee subsequent practical effects. For the purpose of understanding the application situations, forms and problems of social media software in libraries, this article reviews relevant literatures and analyzes the websites of public libraries in New Zealand. The final goal is to make it a reference for the public libraries in Taiwan.
